Golf Wasp

Trying and buying new golf clubs is something that I really enjoy.

I have played with all kinds of clubs, cavity back, muscle back, forge and cast irons.

My first two sets of irons were muscle and I loved them, my control of the ball and feeling were great!

I never wanted to try cavity.

At that time people said cavity irons were built for higher handicap players. The number of players playing with cavity rose fast but I was attached to my muscles.

A few years after, I bought my first set of cavity irons. I have to admit that at the beginning I was not totally sure how much I wanted to accept the change, I didn’t want to lose the control nor the feel that for so many years other players had been attributed to muscle irons.

Cavity irons = more forgiveness

Once I did my first round using the new set of cavity irons, I loved it! The feeling and control remained the same (maybe something insignificant) but the real advantage was and is the forgiveness.

Cavity back irons are hollow in their back and muscle back are not.

The weight in the cavity irons is distributed in the clubface causing lower impact inertia and giving more forgiveness.

The high center of gravity in muscle irons causes a lower trajectory of the ball and for many golfers hitting the ball high in the air is very difficult.

My opinion and advice are to play with cast cavity back irons, but that is something personal that you have to figure it out by yourself, depending on your preference.

The reality is that cast cavity back irons are more forgiven.

In golf you have to take all the possible advantages, this is one of them.

I would like to hear your opinion!
